PUTRAJAYA, 27 July 2016 - Technology Depository Agency Berhad (TDA) held another session of Industrial Matchmaking on Rolling Stocks supply chain which was attended by CRRC, a reknowned Rolling Stocks OEM from China and fifteen (15) potential local vendors and partners. The session started with a welcoming remarks by Mr Azrizal Marzaki, the Head of Program Operation Division of TDA, followed by brief presentation by each company on its capabilities and track records. The objective of this match-making session was to identify potential local companies capabilities to participate in the design, supply and delivery of rolling stocks sub-assemblies which will be manufactured by CRRC. It is the aspiration of the nation under the Industrial Collaboration Program (ICP) to have a minimum of thirty percent (30%) of localization and local content.
CRRC, as one of the potential OEMs of incoming rail projects in Malaysia, appreciated TDA initiatives in organizing this event. CRRC was represented by its Director of Overseas Localization Office, Mr Chen Wangmin and other representatives. According to Mr Chen, the formation of Line Overseas Localization Office shows CRRC commitment in supporting local content and localization. After this session, CRRC intents to explore the potential of local partners by having further assessment through questionnaires and site visits.
On the closing remarks, Mr Azrizal explained that the localization and local content are only some of ICP elements. There are also other ICP elements such as Transfer of Technology, Human Capital Development, Market Access and more. TDA, as the central agency which manages ICP provides the meeting platform for OEMs and local vendors to collaborate. Local vendors were advised to be fully prepared if they are being selected to participate in ICP projects. TDA is ready to provide further advice and assistance if needed by the local companies.
