October 3rd, 2015 – TDA and the Procurement Division (Ministry of Finance) has conducted an industry visit to General Electric (GE) Gas Turbine
Power Generator Manufacturing Factory in Houston, United States. The power generator manufactured in this plant powered by a static GE aviation engine which can produce up to 98% efficiency offsite performance.
Our Malaysian delegation were presented with the latest technology using feedstock as energy produced by GE’s gas engine named Jenbacher. GE has numerous technologies that can hasten the substitution of natural gas for clean diesel.
In relations to our Industrial Collaboration Program (ICP), GE is looking forward to embark on the pre-ICP investment projects in collaboration with MYBiomass to produce a clean diesel for marine engines. Consequently, TDA is also eyeing for any spill-over opportunities for local industry players to participate in the GE’s integrated biomass to power plant in Indonesia, under the pre-ICP projects. This initiative shall be proposed by GE’s to Malaysia ICP Executive Council for approval.
The delegates were taken on a full-plant tour of the GE facility, coupled with an excellent briefing by GE’s program development manager.
