On 25 February, MRT Team of Technology Depository Agency (TDA) visited Rapid Bus Academy (RBA) which owned by Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana) to enhance the function of the academy itself. Prasarana was restructured to further strengthen the company’s foothold in the urban public transport services. Prasarana was divided into four (4) new entities which are Rapid Rail SdnBhd (RRSB), Rapid Bus SdnBhd (RBSB), Prasarana Integrated Management and Engineering Services SdnBhd (PRIME) and Prasarana Integrated Development SdnBhd (PRIDE).
RBA is a training department of RBSB and currently is available in Cheras and Penang. The academy is equipped with the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Awards (APICTA) winning bus simulator module and engineering laboratory consists of mechanical lab, electrical lab & pneumatic lab.
The TDA team was taken for a tour to the academy facilities by RBA Senior Vice President, Mr Jaslino Mohamed Yusoff, accompanied by RBA team. The academy is currently training their internal staff who will be certified with Malaysia Skills Certificate upon completion of the training program. Soon, RBA will offer training programs to the public in order to accomplish their goal as a bus academy hub center in the region and in Malaysia especially.
The bus simulator module was installed with two static and two dynamic simulators to enhance the bus captains’ skills. The dynamic simulators was developed based on the actual bus routes for the captain to have a real driving experience.
The academy has been listed in the Malaysia Book of Records as the first bus operator to have dynamic bus simulators module in south-east Asia.
At the end of the tour, TDA team was given the opportunity to try out the bus simulator module guided by RBA instructor.
